Cervical Cytology – Smear Test

cervical cytology

A simple test is available to detect early changes in cervical cells that indicate an increased risk of developing cancer of the cervix.

The screening interval for women who have had normal smears is three to five years, depending on age.

The test causes minimal discomfort and only takes a couple of minutes.

Women between 20 and 65 will be invited to attend for cervical smears. The recall system is organised by Cervical Screening Wales.

Arranging to have a smear test is easy,  if you know a smear test is due or you have received a reminder letter, simply book to see one of our trained practice nurses.
